Building a Stellar Team

The PlayAndEarn game Nyan Heroes raised $7.5 million—at a valuation of $100 million—to scale the game development towards the Q4 2022 alpha launch.

The project announced the funding round via Twitter on May 9, highlighting the participation of 15 different VC firms. The Solana-based Battle Royale says it will destine the fresh capital to continue expanding the team with AAA game artists, engineers, and community managers. As a testament to what's to come, the team has grown from five to 40+ members after last November's $2.5 million seed round.

Tore Blystad, Creative Director of Nyan Heroes, commented on the game's blog about the importance of hiring industry experts to lure traditional gamers into blockchain gaming, saying:

“To build a game-changing product for Web3 that has the quality and longevity expected from a AAA live-action game, we must hire the right people at the right time. I am confident that this new round of funding and the strategic partners that come with it will enable us to hire those right people, supercharging our production.”

The same day, Nyan Heroes' founder Max Fu—Maxmerro—joined Solana News on Twitter Spaces to reflect on their journey so far and offer an outlook of what's to come:

“We want to create an ecosystem of games and products on top of our existing IP. The Battle Royale is just one layer of the onion. Another layer is our open world, and we want to really tie these together,” said the founder. “We're planning this world to play out like an MMO, with various quests and where players will be able to form guilds. We are drawing heavily from various gunplay versus RPG mixes like Destiny.”

To fully understand the project's ambitions and how it plans to allocate the new capital, Maxmerro also referred to the metaverse beyond the MMO world and the different game modes. The team aims to build a virtual world where players can hang out and eventually create their own content – like in Fortnite or Minecraft. The idea is to start with in-game accessories and expand to user-generated gameplay modes and maps.

Finally, regarding the upcoming $NYN token Initial DEX Offering (IDO), the team has voted to postpone it to a later date. They are waiting for more favorable market conditions to launch the governance token behind the entire project.

What is Nyan Heroes:

Nyan Heroes is a PlayAndEarn NFT-based game built on Solana. In the game, players will be able to collect Nyans (Cats) and their Guardian Robots as NFTs. These heroes can then be used to battle other players in a shooter-style action game. The project features a dual token system. $NYN is the governance token, has a fixed supply, and had plans for IDO in May 2022. The second token is $CTNP, an in-game utility token with no cap.
